Job Description
Are you a visionary leader ready to drive innovation and foster collaboration in the field of Real-World Evidence (RWE)? The GetReal Institute is looking for a dynamic Managing Director to lead the way and drive the day-to-day delivery of our programmes. This role centers on creating value for our RWE community by positioning the Institute as a neutral convener of all stakeholders that fosters collaboration, facilitates interaction, advances education, and drives the development and sharing of best practices in RWE across Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
- Provide visionary leadership by collaborating with the Executive Board and Institute’s Secretariat to refine and implement the Institute’s strategy, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals.
- Oversee operational efficiency by translating strategic plans into actionable programmes in partnership with the Programmes Manager.
- Advocate for the Institute at high-profile events and conferences, enhancing its visibility and influence while championing membership value and impact.
- Foster a dynamic, inclusive culture throughout the institute that supports the growth and collaboration of both the in-house team and the membership community.
Fundraising and Resource Development
- Ensure the financial sustainability of the Institute through effective budget management, membership renewal and growth, and the pursuit of new funding sources, including sponsorships and grants.
- Drive awareness and support through strategic public relations, networking, and targeted communication campaigns.
GetReal Outputs and Deliverables
- Collaborate with the Programmes Manager to transform Working Groups’ activities into impactful outputs such as workshops, publications, and resources.
- Engage in EU-funded consortia to strengthen relationships with academic, research, and industry leaders, while strategically guiding Working Groups and measuring stakeholder impact.
- Oversee the planning and execution of the Annual General Members Meeting (AGM) and Conference, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Facilitate the smooth transition and dissemination of resources, publications, and tools to maximise accessibility and impact.
Membership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Foster active member participation through initiatives, events, and transparent communication.
- Build meaningful relationships with stakeholders, celebrate member achievements, and co-develop collaborative projects to address evolving needs.
Professional Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Required
- Minimum 10 Years’ Experience: Extensive professional experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles, demonstrating proven leadership and strategic oversight.
- Expertise in Real-World Evidence (RWE) and Data (RWD): In-depth knowledge and practical experience with RWE and RWD, also related to regulatory and/or Health Technology Assessment (HTA) processes.
- Strategic Thinking and Planning: Demonstrable experience in strategic development and planning, with the ability to articulate and implement strategies effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellence in public communication to convey factual information and influence stakeholders.
- Revenue Generation and/or Budget Management: Proven track record in generating new revenue streams and/or managing budgets effectively, ensuring financial stability and growth.
- High Work Ethic and Integrity: A demonstrated commitment to excellence, with a high degree of energy, professionalism, and ethical standards.
- Educational Qualification: A post-graduate degree in a relevant field, such as ‘Public health, Epidemiology, Outcomes Research, or related. Additional qualifications in Business Administration are considered an advantage.
Desired
- Experience with Membership Organisations: Demonstrated experience in working with membership-based organisations, including the ability to balance and address diverse member needs and perspectives, and/or extensive network of peers in relevant fields.
- Organisational and Project Management: Strong organisational skills with experience in planning, delegating, and overseeing activities and programmes to achieve strategic objectives.
- Financial Acumen: Expertise in financial management, including budget preparation, financial analysis, decision-making, and reporting.

You will be working with an international team of people dedicated to being at the forefront of RWE-related research and activities in Europe to advance a forward-thinking scientific agenda that will impact patient outcomes, and health care decision making.

Duration: Initial 1-year contract, with the potential for a permanent appointment based on mutual agreement and performance after 12 months.
Employment type: Full time (part-time appointment may be considered).
Salary: A remuneration package commensurate with experience and responsibilities
Location: Remote, Europe
Start date: The successful candidate is expected to start by 1st March 2025 (earlier can be considered)
