ROOTED
IN EUROPE
CONNECTED WORLDWIDE

The GetReal Institute builds on more than a decade of collaboration and innovation in real-world evidence (RWE). Our roots lie in two influential programmes funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), which created the foundation for today’s independent, multi-stakeholder platform.

Our mission is to advance the science, methods, and application of Real-World Evidence (RWE) to support regulatory, Health Technology Assessment (HTA), and clinical decision-making across Europe and beyond.

2013
GetReal Project IMI Funded Call 7

Established to demonstrate how robust new methods of real-world data (RWD) could be adopted earlier in pharmaceutical research and healthcare decision-making.

2018
GetReal Initiative IMI Funded Call 11

Developed tools, methodologies and best practice to increase the quality of real-world evidence (RWE) generation in medicines development and regulatory/HTA processes in Europe.

2021
GetReal Institute

Established as an independent, non-profit forum bringing together regulators, HTA bodies, payers, industry, academia, and patients to advance the adoption and implementation of RWE in healthcare.

2025
Topic-Based Collaboration

The GetReal Institute has evolved to a flexible topic-based research programme, enabling members to shape the RWE agenda and rapidly establish new Topic Groups as priorities and challenges emerge.
